Cabrillo Elementary School needs community support. Along with the opportunity to volunteer, there are other needs. Donations to Point Loma Assembly’s ACCESS program are used to fund Everyone a Reader (EAR), Field Trips, needed classroom supplies, etc. To support a  specific activity, for example art classes at Liberty Arts District or a bus to take children to a museum, you can send the donation to Point  Loma Assembly’s treasurer and note it is for Liberty School or buses. For donations that can be used where they are needed most  please indicate they are for ACCESS (Assembly & Cabrillo Encouraging Student Success).

Assembly members were responsible for the activities that have been provided. Lynn Sylva and Pam Fuchs discovered the Liberty School and negotiated to have Cabrillo Elementary School included. Vickie Lareau has deep ties with the Air and Space Museum and was able to arrange  for their Mobile Bus to come on campus to teach Robots and Rockets. Carolyn Bick followed up when Sea World settled with the city and  agreed to give discount tickets to Title I schools. With the help of the Goldfarbs, they provided tickets and buses. Many other members have  suggested enrichment opportunities. Because of them the children at Cabrillo Elementary have an exciting and well-rounded education.

The ACCESS committee wants ideas for the future. If you know of something that will benefit the children of Cabrillo Elementary School, please email PointLomaAssemblyACCESS@gmail.com

Pt. Loma Assembly members and Bus Drivers visit the Visions Museum of Textile Arts to see work of Cabrillo Elementary School students who participated in the art program. On Friday, Sally, Carolyn and Maureen gifted Cabrillo 4th graders with books purchased at LaPlaya Books with a donation from one of our board members. They were all smiles and hugs on their last day of school before the holiday break.
